I am pleased to say that Southwark Diocese are holding a study day on Sacramental Fresh Expressions on Saturday 5th November 10.30am to 3.30pm.  The day aims to address the questions: How can you be both a Fresh Expression and liturgical? How do you blend ancient tradition and modern culture? How can you encourage spiritual practice in your young people and not just play games?I am very pleased to hear that…See More

Initial Response to the Book "For the Parish, a critique of Fresh Expressions" by Alison Milbank and Andrew Davison

This book is a first real critique of Fresh Expressions, and I welcome the importance of reflective outsider thinking. I am still working out my thoughts, but I really appreciate the deep questions this book raises, even if it does it in a bit of a rant. To see what I wrote, see the link here.

Church of England Religious Orders Advisory Committee, Church House

Just wanted to feedback that on 21st July 2010 I attended the Religious Orders Advisory Committee of the Church of England, to talk about new monasticism and how it is arising in England. There was a lot of energy and interest in the room, where traditional monastics are wanting to support what seemed them to be a movement of the Holy Spirit in England. There was a lot of wisdom and interest in collaborative… Continue

Moot Community Arts Cafe Lounge Vision for mission in the City of London

Some will know that some of us in moot have had a vision of developing an arts cafe lounge in central London for nearly 15 years. We have been to see what the Spurriergate Centre in York have done, COTA in Seattle, Sanctus 1 and Nexus in Manchester, and some church army initiatives around the UK. We are pleased that we are making progress with setting up our own in the square mile in London, and more news about that shortly. We are therefore seeking people to join in this project, and also we… Continue

Books coming out on new monasticism from members of this network

Well, it seems lots of us are writing books. Ian Adams is writing a book for Canterbury Press, and a compilation of authors are contributing chapters for book 2 of the series Ancient Faith Future Mission. I have just finished the manuscript for a book on new monasticism for Paraclete Press, which has taken me 2 years to shape and complete, so if you are writing a book, do let us know.
